It is a beautiful day! Too beautiful to not be out and about. I'm so happy that I finally got my butt outside. Also, I can't think of how long it's been since I last did an outfit post for you guys. I'm keeping it simple today. I honestly cannot remember where I got this military green jacket from! I found it buried under clothes I had put away last season. It keeps me guarded from the windy weather. This striped tee from Gap is honestly the most comfortable thing; I could live in it for days. And because I'm really feeling this Spring vibe lately, I added a few pastels into the mix. The beanie is something I purchased way back but I always bring it out around this time of year. It's light enough so that my head isn't breaking sweat on warmer days. The pumps are a recent purchase and I love how minimal they are. They go with almost everything in my closet!
I'm going to leave you with this and some ear candy. I have plans to see "The Grand Budapest Hotel" tomorrow. I've heard so many great things and I can never miss a Wes Anderson film on the big screen. I hope your weekend is great. Keep it real!
001. March is a month I always look forward to, no matter the weather. We are just a few steps closer to sunnier days and my birthday falls on St. Patricks day, which is always a party. I have so many reasons to celebrate last month and one of those is the reunion of some very dear friends of mine. I also have made many new friends and I've never felt more graced.
002. When the weather is nice, I'm out on the road more often. When you have friends in far places, it gives you a good excuse to go on mini road trips. It's a little slice of heaven being able to travel, even though I'm not going very far at all. I was able to take a trip to Kansas City with a great friend of mine to explore some art museums and eat delicious food! It makes me look forward for more trips like those during late spring and summer. I also had a lot of time to catch up with old friends over coffee, chinese food, and at the cinema. The friends that walk back into your life and keep in touch are the ones that stay.
003. My birthday was a success, as it is every year. I give all of the credit to my friends that make it so! I had a whole weekend of celebrations, along with a very spontaneous commitment on my right shoulder blade. Although that weekend is a bit of a haze, I know that at some point I was wearing a green bowler hat and clover shaped sunnies. My mom made me one of my favorites, sunshine cake. My birthday literally tasted like sunshine.
004. I finally have a new camera! It is the Canon Rebel T3i. It also shoots video so I've been messing around with that a bit. I bought this camera specifically for this blog. I hope to do more lookbooks and possibly some vlogs in the near future. Lately I've been interested in handwritten typography as well as illustration. I want to get more in touch with my non-digital side of creativity. I'm getting back into using gel pens again too. Did you ever use those scented ones when you were younger? They were totally rad.
And so here I am, in April. Next week I'm going to see Tycho and I already have butterflies. I hope you all had a great March and I hope April treats you even better.
There's something different about my right shoulder. It's now a home to something that will be with me for the rest of my life. As spontaneous as my decision was to get this tattoo, I'm very pleased with it. This was my very first tattoo experience and it was smooth sailing all the way through. I have my friend to thank for this. We carried conversations about cats and birthday plans and at some point in time I just completely zoned out. Perhaps there was something peaceful about getting a tattoo? I don't know, but the discomfort didn't get to me as much halfway through. The whole process took about an hour, but it felt like nothing to me.
I chose a daisy for simple reasons. I've loved them ever since I was little because they surrounded the house I grew up in. They instantly bring a smile to my face, light up any room, and make me feel completely nostalgic. And honestly, if I were a flower, I'm pretty sure I would be a daisy. It's a beautiful milestone and a simple reminder that there are better things to come. Life is always blooming!
Do you have any tattoos? If so, what made you get one?
When you're a busy bee, it's hard to find time to enjoy the sweet honey in life. This could mean a matter of things, like having down time with your cat, watching old Michael Caine films or off time to just explore the world. Thankfully, I've had plenty of time on my hands to enjoy time spent with friends, family, and above all, music. Artists like the The Radio Dept., Princeton, and Lotus Plaza have put me under a spell. This list is very mellow and sweet at the same time. I hope you'll enjoy.
